A 37-year-old home nurse has been booked for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth Rs1.4 lakh from the house, located on the campus, of an IIT-B professor. The police are searching for the accused, Madhuri Kamble, who allegedly committed the theft on May 3, her first day on the job.
According to the FIR, the complainant, Pradnya D, 60, a homemaker, resides at IIT-B, Powai, with her husband, who is a professor at the institute. Her 95-year-old mother-in-law suffers from age-related health issues and hence the family had employed a home nurse, Savita Kamble, 35, who was with them since January 2020. When she left for her native on May 3, the professor's family contacted a homecare agency and hired Madhuri, who joined the same day.
