Mumbai: In his first major reshuffle since taking over as Mumbai Police Commissioner, Deven Bharti has transferred 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) across various zones of the city. The reshuffle includes significant reassignments, including the long-awaited appointment of a full-time DCP for the Cyber Cell, which had been functioning without a dedicated officer for over 18 months.
IPS officer Purushottam Karad has now been appointed as the full-time DCP of the Mumbai Cyber Cell, ending the temporary charge previously held by a DCP from the Crime Branch. According to the official transfer order issued by the Mumbai CP, Krishnakant Upadhyay returns as DCP Zone 3, a post he held before being transferred to Headquarters 1 prior to the elections.
Datta Nalawade, currently Crime Branch DCP, has been reassigned as DCP Zone 10, a position he earlier held before his Crime Branch tenure. Dattatray Kamble, who was DCP Zone 3, has been shifted back to Special Branch 1, where he had served earlier. Mahesh Chimte, previously with the Protection Branch, is now DCP Zone 12. Navnath Dhawale moves from Zone 6 to become the DCP, Anti-Narcotics Cell.
