Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will virtually inaugurate a new four-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) between Titwala and Khadavli railway stations on May 13 at 7 PM. The inauguration will be conducted via video link from Reay Road.
Constructed by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (MRIDC), popularly known as MahaRail, the ROB is expected to significantly ease vehicular congestion and enhance suburban train punctuality. The project is part of the larger Kalyan Ring Road initiative and connects Ambivali to Kalyan, passing near the renowned Shree Siddhivinayak Ganesh Mandir in Titwala. Cost of this ROB is arround Rs.100 crore.
According to an officials, the new ROB will replace the existing level crossing gates, which currently open and close over 25 times a day, causing delays to nearly 50 trains by 5 to 10 minutes each. Once operational, the bridge will allow uninterrupted train movement and smoother road traffic, eliminating the need for trains to slow down near level crossings.
“This development will not only ensure smoother vehicular traffic but also significantly improve the punctuality of suburban train services,” said an official.
The newly built ROB showcases several modern features. It is equipped with LED streetlights for improved night-time visibility and remotely controlled, theme-based LED decorative arches. Additionally, a four-coat epoxy painting system has been used to enhance the bridge’s durability and aesthetics.
According to MahaRail, one of the standout innovations of this project is the integrated crash barrier system, which includes a three-tier stainless steel utility duct. This state-of-the-art system allows safe and efficient housing of electric cables, enabling easier inspection, maintenance, and replacement while maintaining public safety and visual appeal. Dedicated service roads on both sides of the bridge ensure smooth vehicular flow, further enhancing its functionality.
