Mumbai: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) will remain closed for six hours today (May 8) for annual pre-monsoon maintenance. Both runways will remain non-operational from 11 am to 5 pm.

The airport said that a 'notice to airmen' was issued six months in advance, enabling airlines to adjust their schedules well ahead of time. In its April 20 edition, FPJ had reported that the primary and secondary runways – 09/27 and 14/32, respectively – will be temporarily nonoperational today.

Specialists will inspect runway surfaces for wear and tear, addressing preventive measures for waterlogging to ensure safe landings and take-offs during the monsoon.
