Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Control Room received a threat email on Wednesday, in which an unidentified sender demanded the formation of a union within the Tamil Nadu police force.

The email was first sent to Worli’s Four Seasons hotel, whose management, alarmed by its contents, immediately alerted the Mumbai Police Control Room. Following the alert, cyber police launched a probe to trace the origin of the mail and identify the sender.

Recent Threat Call on August 14: This is not the first such incident this month. On August 14, the Mumbai Police Control Room had received a threat call claiming that a “major bomb blast” would take place in a train. The caller abruptly disconnected after making the threat. When police tried to call back on the same number, the phone was found switched off.

The call was received around 6:30 pm on Thursday, after which Mumbai Police alerted the Railway Police. Security checks were immediately intensified across railway stations and crowded areas. However, no suspicious object was found during the searches.

Police on High Alert: With back-to-back threats through both calls and emails, Mumbai Police have stepped up surveillance in sensitive areas. Cyber police teams are now focusing on tracing the sender of the latest email.
