One of the most awaited project of SoBo, Carnac bridge, is finally ready but it has not been opened to the public yet. "We are awaiting a reply from the CMO," the official added, not wishing to be identified.
Completed Carnac Bridge
On Monday a team from the FPJ walked across from the eastern side to the opposite side and found that the work is complete. In fact, several two -wheeler riders have already started using the bridge.
However, four-wheelers cannot use it since metal barricades have been placed at the entrance to the bridge on either side. For several years lakhs of Mumbaikars have been suffering in the absence of the bridge which was demolished because of structural issues. They have been taking long detours since then. Now that the bridge is ready, the BMC is willing to throw it open immediately. Only a nod from the CMO is waited. However, most likely it will be opened for traffic in the next couple of days, without formal VIP inauguration.
