Civil society groups and activists in Mumbai urged the Indian government to take a diplomatic lead in resolving the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Student Islamic Organisation Demands Stronger Stance

In a meeting with the media in Mumbai on Friday, Simab Khan, state president of The Students Islamic Organisation of India, said that though India has historically been a vocal supporter of the Palestinian cause, the silence of the government on the ongoing genocide in Gaza is highly disturbing. "Further, the administration’s attitude towards pro-Palestine protests betrays a sense of apathy and indifference towards the plight of Palestinians," said Khan.

Tushar Gandhi: Aid Blockade a Global Moral Failure

Tushar Gandhi, author and activist, said, "The blockade of aid to Gaza is a stark reminder of the world's apathy towards the Palestinian struggle. We must continue to amplify the voices of the oppressed and demand justice and freedom for Palestine."

Activist Harshali Potdar Stresses Moral Responsibility

Harshali Potdar, independent activist, said that as citizens of the world, there is a moral obligation to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. "We must work collectively to bring attention to their plight and push for policy changes that support their rights," said Potdar.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Appeals for Global Action

Haseeb Bhatkar, vice president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Maharashtra, said that the situation in Gaza is a humanitarian emergency that requires immediate attention. "We appeal to the international community to take concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and work towards a lasting solution."
