Abu Asim Azmi, Mumbai/Maharashtra president of the Samajwadi Party, has requested that teachers who are not fluent in Marathi be provided training in their own language. Additionally, he has asked that training for Muslim/Urdu teachers be scheduled after Ramadan.
This request comes as the Maharashtra state education department has organised a teacher training program from February 17 to May 15. Azmi pointed out that the training is currently being conducted in Marathi, causing difficulties for teachers who are not fluent in the language. Furthermore, the training period coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, making it challenging for Muslim teachers to participate while fasting.
