Mumbai Metro Line-9: First Phase From Dahisar To Kashigaon Set To Open By Year-End

According to sources, to ensure timely completion and maintain world-class standards, MMRDA has adopted advanced technology and assigned team leaders to each metro project for better coordination. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is accelerating the construction of Metro Line-9, aiming to open its first phase by the end of this year. This phase will stretch from Dahisar East to Kashigaon.

Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, recently met with Anil Kumar Saini, Managing Director of Alstom India, to discuss the progress of signalling works of metro corridor including metro- 9.The focus of the meeting was on compressing timelines and leveraging global expertise for efficient execution and timely execution of the project.

Metro Line-9 is an important extension of Mumbai’s transport network. It extends Metro Line-7, covering a total distance of 11.38 km from Dahisar East to Mira Bhayandar. The project is divided into two phases: Phase 1, which runs from Dahisar East to Kashigaon, is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Phase 2 will extend from Kashigaon to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.

"The corridor will include two key interchange stations. Dahisar East will connect with Metro Line-7 and Metro Line-2, while Miragaon will link with the upcoming Metro Line-10" said an official.

"With MMRDA fast-tracking the project, commuters can expect improved connectivity and reduced travel time between Mumbai’s suburbs and Mira Bhayandar. The completion of Metro Line-9 will significantly enhance Mumbai’s public transport network, helping to reduce congestion and promote sustainable urban mobility" he said.
