Mumbai witnessed heavy rainfall on Monday morning, leading to severe waterlogging in several parts of the city. As a result, suburban train services on the Central Railway (CR) were badly affected, with local trains running behind schedule.

Local train services between Vadala Road and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) were suspended at 10:25 am due to severe waterlogging at Masjid station. However, CR stated that services between Vadala Road and CSMT were restored at around 11:45 am.

“Harbour Line services have been restored with restricted speeds as of now. Efforts are underway to restore normal speeds,” said a spokesperson of CR.

Water accumulation on the railway tracks occurred due to overflowing BMC drainage lines, particularly impacting low-lying areas. Central Railway confirmed that efforts are underway to coordinate with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to resolve the issue.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Central Railway’s Mumbai Division posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that teams are working closely with civic authorities to clear water from the tracks and restore normal services as quickly as possible.

Commuters have been advised to stay updated through official channels before heading out, as train delays are expected to continue until water levels recede.
