Mumbai: The Central Railway has announced a mega block scheduled for Sunday, June 22, to carry out essential maintenance work. According to the announcement, the block will be in effect on the Main Line from Matunga to Mulund on both the UP and Down slow line between 11:05 AM and 3:55 PM. Additionally, the Mumbai Division of Central Railway has also scheduled a mega block on the Harbour Line from Mankhurd to Nerul. This block will be carried out on both the UP and Down Harbour line from 11:15 AM to 4:15 PM.
Details regarding the timing and extent of the mega block were shared through an official post on X (formerly Twitter) by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Mumbai Central Railway.

Services on Up and Down Harbour Line between Mankhurd and Nerul will remain cancelled from 11.15 am to 4.15 pm
Services on the Down Harbour Line departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, towards Vashi/Belapur/Panvel from 10:18 a.m. to 3:28 p.m., and services on the Up Harbour Line departing from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi towards CSMT from 10:37 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., will remain cancelled.
However, special services will be operated between CSMT – Mankhurd and Panvel – Nerul/Thane during the block period.
Passengers on the Harbour Line are permitted to travel on the Trans-Harbour Line/Main Line between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Matunga – Mulund (Up and Down Slow Line) from 11:05 a.m. to 3:55 p.m.
Services on the Down Slow Line leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai, from 10:14 a.m. to 3:32 p.m. will be diverted to the Down Fast Line between Matunga and Mulund stations. These trains will halt at Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, and Mulund stations, and will be re-diverted to the Down Slow Line at Mulund station. These trains will arrive approximately 15 minutes later than scheduled.
Services on the Up Slow Line departing from Thane between 11:07 a.m. and 3:51 p.m. will be diverted to the Up Fast Line at Mulund, and will operate on the Fast Line between Mulund, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sion stations. These trains will then be re-diverted to the Up Slow Line at Matunga station and are expected to arrive approximately 15 minutes later than the scheduled time.

The incident took place during peak hours, a time when the trains are typically packed with women commuting to work and school. The fight reportedly escalated quickly, involving hair-pulling, slapping, and aggressive shoving near the train's entrance. In the viral footage, a few fellow passengers can be seen trying to intervene and break up the scuffle.
While the exact cause of the dispute remains unclear, regular commuters think the fight might have started because of seating or personal space, common flashpoints in overcrowded local trains.
Western Railway has confirmed that the incident occurred on a designated Ladies Special local train running from Churchgate to Virar. Authorities are currently investigating the matter to determine the circumstances and any necessary action.
