Mumbai: The last stage of the highly anticipated Santa Cruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) is scheduled to launch in June. The only remaining task is the finishing work of the last phase of this road, and once it is done, the road will be opened shortly. This will ease the congestion for vehicles at Mumbai University Chowk in Santa Cruz along the Western Expressway.
The SCLR route is undergoing an expansion from CST Road to Vakola Bridge along the Western Expressway. Currently, the construction of the cable-stayed bridge linking the Western Expressway to Dahisar is progressing in its final phase. This bridge features an orthopedic steel deck design. Its bend on the Western Expressway is extremely tight, making it the bridge with the most acute curve in the nation.
The challenging job of installing cables on the cable-stayed bridge has been finished by the MMRDA. The task of placing slabs on this road has also been finished. Currently, the process of asphalting the slab and the road's crash barrier is in progress. MMRDA aims to finish these tasks prior to the monsoon. Thus, this road may be accessible for traffic in June.
An orthopaedic steel deck cable-stayed bridge is constructed on the Western Expressway along the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road. This task is quite complex regarding engineering aspects. The MMRDA has asserted that this bridge will be remarkable because of its unique cable design and acute angles.
