Mumbai police registered a case against eight women for allegedly stripping and assaulting a 13-year-old girl in their area on Tuesday, suspecting that she was disposing of sanitary pads publicly in the backyard of their Borivali residence. The women who are being accused allegedly forced their way into the girl's home, undressed her, and assaulted her and her mother.
The police state that the event happened in March at the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) staff quarters in Borivali, though the girl's family submitted the complaint only recently. According to the police report submitted by the girl's mother, four women residing in their apartment entered their home along with four other unidentified women.

The defendants were frustrated and claimed they believed the complainant's daughter was discarding used sanitary products and underwear in the communal yard. The complainant stated in the First Information Report (FIR) that they mistreated the woman and her teenage daughter and, in an attempt to inspect her undergarment, they dragged her forcefully, stripped her, and also touched her inappropriately. They are also charged with having used profane language while mistreating the mother-daughter pair.
A Borivali police officer mentioned that the complainant's family has an ongoing conflict with the accused regarding room assignments at the BEST staff quarters. The women who are accused had earlier filed complaints against the complainant's family with the BEST administration.

The individual had submitted a police report about an incident of disrobing but subsequently retracted it. Following the submission of a new complaint, her account was documented, resulting in the arrest of all eight women on Tuesday. So far, there have been no arrests while the investigation is ongoing. The women face charges under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Pocso Act.
