Mumbai Hit-And-Run: Labourer Killed As Speeding Car Mows Him Down In Sewri; Manhunt Launched To Nab Accused

Mumbai: A tragic accident occurred in Mumbai’s Sewri area when a speeding vehicle struck a 39-year-old labourer and fled the scene, as per reports on Wednesday. The victim’s brother rushed him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The police registered a case after the incident and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle involved, according to news agency IANS. Further details on the case are awaited.
The incident comes just a day after an Army soldier was struck by a speeding car near the CSMT railway station on Tuesday. The soldier, identified as Ejaz Ahmed Bhat (30), is currently receiving treatment at INS Ashwini Hospital in Colaba. The driver reportedly fled the scene and a case was registered at the Azad Maidan Police Station.
Similar Accident Reported Last Week
This accident follows a similar case reported last week on the Eastern Freeway near Sewri. In the early hours of March 28, a high-speed motorcycle lost control and crashed into a railing, resulting in the death of one man and serious injuries to another.
Police identified the deceased as 26-year-old Nomaan Khan, while the injured rider was Arbaaz Mohammad Ali Khan, 32. Following the crash, the Sewri police registered a case against Arbaaz under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for reckless and negligent driving.

According to officials, Arbaaz was riding at an excessively high speed on the southbound freeway when he lost control, veering into the left-side railing. The impact proved fatal for Nomaan, who was riding pillion, killing him on the spot. Meanwhile, Arbaaz sustained serious injuries to his head and arms and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Both men were residents of Swagat Society in Ghatkopar. The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident.
