Her statement has been recorded by the police.
According to officials, the victim, Pooja Varma—a homemaker residing in Malad West—is a regular morning runner. Her husband works as a manager with a private company. For the past ten years, she has been going for a run and exercising every morning.
On Saturday as well, she had come to the same spot for her routine. On Saturday, at around 5:45 a.m., she went for a run with her husband as usual. The incident occurred behind Infinity Mall, near the Space Mind square. Her husband was running approximately 20 to 30 metres ahead of her.
As she was running, a white car entered the square intending to take a right turn. While making the turn, the car struck her on the left side, causing injuries to her left shoulder, forehead, nose, and left knee.
Her husband immediately transported her to Zenith Hospital in Malad West, where she is undergoing treatment. The police confirmed that her condition is stable and that her statement has been recorded. They are currently examining CCTV footage from the area to trace the offending vehicle.
