Mumbai Woman Doctor Assaulted By Drunk Patient, His Relatives At Sion Hospital, Days After Kolkata Shocker
Amid the nationwide outrage against the rape and murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata's hospital, a female resident doctor in Mumbai's Sion hospital was assaulted by a patient and his relatives who were intoxicated. The incident took place in the wee hours of Sunday.

A horrifying incident unfolded in Mumbai's Sion where a female resident doctor was assaulted by a patient and relatives who were in a drunken state. The incident took place around 3.30 am on Sunday. The doctors are in the process of registering a police complaint.
"The patient arrived in casualty after midnight in an intoxicated state with 7-8 relatives. He was given ENT but he started abusing the female doctor, escalating to assault," Dr Akshay More from Sion Hospital informed.
Mumbai's Sion Hospital (Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital) is run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). It can be noted that the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) at BMC have been on strike supporting the nationwide protest on the security of resident doctors. The residents doctors at BMC hospitals have suspended elective services like OPDs and OTs, however, the Emergency services are on.

Speaking with FPJ, a member of BMC MARD said, "We are at the Sion police station to register a complaint. We are not sure about the rule of 'Institutional FIR'. The Dean of Sion Hospital has taken the matter into serious notice."
The incident comes during the ongoing nationwide protests against the rape and murder of the female resident doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar medical college.
