A 17-year-old girl was attacked with a brick by a 19-year-old youth on a busy road in Kandivali West on Saturday after she rejected his relationship proposal. The girl, who sustained serious injuries, is currently being treated at Shatabdi Hospital.

The incident took place on Gosalia Road in Sanjay Nagar while the girl was walking with a friend. The accused, known to her, chased her, hurled abuses, assaulted her, and then hit her on the head with a brick. He also smashed her mobile phone before fleeing the scene.

Kandivali police have registered a case under sections 78 (stalking), 118(1) (causing hurt with dangerous weapons), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and 324(4) (mischief causing loss over Rs1 lakh) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the POCSO Act. A search for the accused is ongoing.
