The Bandra police registered a Zero FIR against seven persons for allegedly importing medicines illegally and selling them without receipts. The case, filed on March 28 based on a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) complaint, invokes sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the FIR, the FDA received information that M/s ASPK International Trade, operating from an office in Ajmera Sikova Building, LBS Marg, Ghatkopar West, was selling medicines without generating bills. The illegally imported drugs included Ozempic, Opdivo, and Keytruda injections. Acting on this tip-off, an FDA team raided the company’s office and factory in Ghatkopar on March 27 at 3pm.
During the raid, officials found stocks of these medicines at the premises. When questioned, company owner Sudarshana Sawane admitted to purchasing them from a supplier named Darshan, who delivered the stock at Kohinoor Mall, Dadar East. It was also found that Shubham Sawane and Sagar Bhise were responsible for collecting the medicines. Both Sudarshana and Shubham Sawane confessed to selling them for cash without issuing bills.
Further investigation revealed that Bhise had sourced stock from M/s Solanki Medical and General Stores, Pali Naka, Bandra West, without receipts. At Solanki Medical Stores, FDA officers found that Suraj Solanki had supplied the medicines to Sawane and that some stock lacked manufacturer, importer, and pricing details.
The police have booked Sudarshana Sawane, Shubham Sawane, Sagar Bhise, Suraj Solanki, Sushank Solanki, Suresh Solanki, and Darshan under Sections 3(5) (general explanation) and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
