Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), of Mumbai Crime Branch has busted two drug rackets in separate operations, seizing heroin, charas, and mephedrone worth Rs 2.5 crore and arresting two accused, including a Lokhandwala-based engineer.

In the first case, the Azad Maidan ANC unit arrested S. Khan (40), an instrumentation engineer residing in Lokhandwala, Andheri West. Based on a tip-off, police raided Khan’s residence on Monday and seized mephedrone and charas worth Rs 1.25 crore along with Rs 18 lakh in cash.

Khan, originally from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly selling drugs from his flat for the past 3–4 years while his family resides in his hometown.

According to Sources, Khan used his flat as a delivery point where customers would collect the contraband. He was operating alone. We are interrogating him to identify his suppliers.

In a second operation, the Kandivali ANC unit arrested Faizan Irfan Gaur (31), a Versova resident, and seized 306 grams of heroin valued at Rs 1.22 crore, Said DCP Navnath Dhawale.

Acting on specific intelligence, the police laid a trap near Versova Jetty and apprehended Gaur with the drugs. His mobile phone has also been seized for further leads. The Police believe the accused are linked to an inter-state drug network and are conducting further investigations to trace the main suppliers.
