A 40-year-old man has been arrested by Tardeo police for allegedly stalking and passing lewd comments at an 11-year-old girl as she was returning home from tuition classes. The accused, identified as Sonu Surendra Jagdish Soni, a resident of 2/5 Babu Morai Colony, Airport Road, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from his residence today.

Mumbai: A 40-year-old man has been arrested by Tardeo police for allegedly stalking and passing lewd comments at an 11-year-old girl as she was returning home from tuition classes.

Incident occurred near tuition centre in Tardeo

According to tardeo police, the incident occurred near Tutorials in Tardeo. The accused, identified as Sonu Surendra Jagdish Soni, a resident of 2/5 Babu Morai Colony, Airport Road, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from his residence today.

Victim subjected to inappropriate comment and stalking

The 44 year Complainant a civil contractor residing in Tardeo, reported that his daughter was walking home when the accused approached her and inappropriately asked, “Will you marry me like in childhood?” He then allegedly followed her while staring at her inappropriately, causing the minor severe mental distress.

FIR filed under POCSO and BNS

The police stated that the victim and the accused are not known to each other. Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The arrest was made by the investigating officer with support from local supervision under the night duty in-charge and Senior Police Inspector. Further investigation is underway.
