Accused of Forging Birth Certificate for Passport
According to the complaint filed by police constable Kajal Ramchandra Shinde (26), Rubina — currently residing in Koparkhairane, Navi Mumbai — was lodged in Byculla District Prison (Class-2) in connection with offences registered at Vashi Police Station under Sections 318(4), 336(2), 338, 336(3), and 340(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3(a) and 6(A) of the Passport Act, and Section 14(a) of the Foreigner Act.
Arrested Earlier This Month
Rubina had allegedly attempted to obtain an Indian passport by using a bogus birth certificate. She was arrested by Vashi Police on 7 August and subsequently remanded to judicial custody at the Byculla Women’s Jail.
Hospital Visit Turns into Escape Opportunity
On 11 August, she was admitted to JJ Hospital for treatment of fever, cold, and a skin ailment, as well as for monitoring her pregnancy — she is reportedly five months pregnant. However, on the afternoon of 14 August, while under treatment, Rubina allegedly pushed the escorting constable’s hand and fled, using the busy hospital premises to slip away unnoticed.
