Claiming connections within the Mantralaya and proximity to MHADA officials, Mahadik assured Aparna that he could secure a flat for her at a 10% discount in a MHADA building located in Chikuwadi, Borivali West. He told her he knew one politically influential person, Mandar Borkar, and was also close to a politician and MHADA vice-president. He cited a price of Rs72 lakh for the flat.
