Mumbai Coastal Road Project: South Mumbai Residents Launch Second Petition Demanding Napean Sea Road Exit
After the Breach Candy residents, who have been demanding an additional exit for the Coastal Road, the Napean Sea Road (NSR) and Malabar Hill residents have joined to the demand. An online petition was started on Wednesday by a NSR resident stressing on worsening traffic crisis and bottleneck thousands of vehicles daily.

Mumbai: After the Breach Candy residents, who have been demanding an additional exit for the Coastal Road, the Napean Sea Road (NSR) and Malabar Hill residents have joined to the demand. An online petition was started on Wednesday by a NSR resident stressing on worsening traffic crisis and bottleneck thousands of vehicles daily.
Online Petition Highlights Daily Traffic Woes
"Along with fellow residents of Malabar Hill, Walkeshwar, Breach Candy, and surrounding areas, we urge the authorities to urgently reconsider the construction of a dedicated exit point for the Coastal Road at NSR. This is not just a matter of inconvenience; it is a matter of urban wellbeing, safety, and sustainability," the petition reads. It garnered almost 200 signature in the first couple of hours.
Breach Candy Residents Welcome Support, Stress United Front
The first petition was Breach Candy Residents Forum (BCRF) last year which has for more than 3200 signature. The members of BCRF welcomed the NSR residents petition and said that the south Mumbai residents fighting together for a cause will create pressure on the authorities to consider the demand.
Land Parcel for Exit Held by MSRDC, Not Yet Released to BMC
The land parcel where the NSR exit is been demanded is around 67,000 st ft big and falls under the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which has declined to handover the land to the BMC.
MSRDC managing director, Anilkumar Gaikwad told the FPJ that at the moment no project has been proposed on the said land but it falls under the residencial zone and given to MSRDC with a purpose.

After pursuit by local MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, it came to conclusion that only the chief minister can now order the MSRDC to handover the plot to BMC for an additional Coastal Road exit.
"We are running pillar to post seeking appointment of CM Devendra Fadnavis," said Nandini Chabria from BCRF.
