Mumbai: Bandra woman dies by suicide after dowry harassment by husband
The victim's husband has been arrested in connection to the incident, the Mumbai police said.

A woman committed suicide in Bandra area allegedly due to dowry harassment. The husband and father-in-law of the deceased have been arrested.
According to the police, the 34-year–old deceased identified as Pinky Chawla, allegedly ended her life in her home in Khatik Wadi locality in Bandra last week by consuming poison. The matter came to light after the father of the deceased filed a complaint alleging that his daughter was being harassed for dowry at her husband’s home, by her husband and her father-in-law.
The Nirmal Nagar police registered the complaint and arrested both the husband and the father-in-law in the case.
“We have arrested both the accused persons on the charges of abetment of suicide, for seeking dowry, assaulting the victim and other offences,” said an official.
“According to the complaint of the father, the deceased woman used to get beaten up by the in-laws for allegedly not fulfilling their dowry demands, which forced her to take the extreme step,” added the official.
24-year-old woman strangled in Dharavi
In a similar incident, a 24-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death in Dharavi, the police said on Monday.
The victim's husband has been arrested in connection to the incident, the Mumbai police said.
Officials said that the incident took place on February 11 morning in Dharavi.
