Mira-Bhayandar: In a much-needed respite for citizens, an advanced computed tomography (CT) scan machine was unveiled at the state run-Bharat Ratna Late Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Civil Hospital in Bhayandar (west) on Monday.

The CT scan machine was inaugurated by local legislator- Narendra Mehta in the presence of civil surgeon- Dr. Zafar Tadvi and project manager (Krsnaa Diagnostics)-Sandesh Ballal.

The GE Healthcare’s Revolution Act- an advanced 16 slice CT scanner equipped with 2 mega heat units (MHU) X-ray tube has been installed by Krsnaa Diagnostic under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model which it has inked with the government for providing advanced diagnostic services at various district hospitals across the state.

As per the model, Krsnaa Diagnostics partners with government-owned healthcare facilities to deploy and operate its diagnostic units which can be availed free-of-cost by people undergoing treatment in the inpatient and outpatient departments of the hospital.

For other individuals like those who approach from any other hospitals or clinics, will have to pay affordable costs which is at-least 20 percent lower than the approved rates fixed under the central government health scheme (CGHS).

“While the hospital administration has provided space and required water supply, the diagnostic agency will shoulder all other responsibilities including medical apparatus and facilitating trained and qualified manpower to operate the CT scan machine.” said Dr. Zafar Tadvi.

“The round the clock availability of the CT scan machine will enable around 100 diagnostic tests per day.” said Sandesh Ballal. “The facility will significantly benefit patients, particularly those from lower-income backgrounds, by providing free access to crucial diagnostic tests.” said Mehta.

Providing services on a PPP model in 18 states of the country, Krsnaa Diagnostics has been selected by the state government as the service provider to install various diagnostic equipment’s like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and CT Scan machines at district and sub-district hospitals across 17 districts in the state.

After much dilly-dialling, the state government had taken over the reins of the hospital from the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC). This after the civic administration expressed before the judiciary about its inability to sustain the huge administrative expenses to run the hospital. Notably, the 200-bedded hospital is the lone government run sub-district medical facility in the Mira Road-Dahanu belt.
