The Director General of Training under the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved new courses in 70 government-run Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Maharashtra. Additionally, approval has been granted for a Government Advanced ITI at Chembur.
Courses Aligned with Green Technology Trends
The newly introduced courses include Solar Technician (Electrical) and EV Mechanic (Electric Vehicle). With an emphasis on environment-friendly technologies, these courses aim to prepare students for emerging job opportunities in the green tech sector.
High-Level Guidance in Course Development
Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha credited the initiative to the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, scientist Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar, and MITRA CEO Praveen Pardeshi. The launch reflects efforts to make skill training more relevant to current market needs.
Advanced ITI in Chembur to Empower Marginalized Students
The newly sanctioned Advanced ITI at Chembur will focus on socio-economic empowerment of Scheduled Caste and Neo-Buddhist students. Courses will include Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Electrician, Wireman, IoT Technician (Smart City), and Electric Mechanic, starting academic year 2025–26.
District ITIs to Be Upgraded with Industry Support
Minister Lodha announced that 36 district-level ITIs will be upgraded through partnerships with private industries. These upgrades aim to improve training, infrastructure, and job-oriented course offerings aligned with the National Education Policy.
Skill Development Efforts to Boost Employability
The department is also hosting skill expos and youth guidance camps to enhance job readiness. By equipping students with in-demand skills, the government hopes to establish ITIs as a strong skill training brand in Maharashtra.
