Mumbai: The Shirdi Sai Baba Temple received a bomb threat over an email on Friday after which the temple’s security has been increased. Although the law enforcement agencies expect the email to be a hoax threat, the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

While the country is still not over the terrorist attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the revered Sai Baba Temple in Maharashtra’s Shirdi received a bomb threat on Friday morning. The threat was issued through an email claiming to blow up the temple using a pipe bomb.

The Shirdi police have registered a first information report against an unidentified individual based on the complaint filed by the temple’s security officer Rohidas Mali. According to the complaint, an anonymous mail was received on the official website of the Shirdi Sai Baba Sansthan on Friday morning, which threatened to blow up the temple using a pipe bomb.

Although the mail is expected to be a hoax threat, the temple’s security cover has been intensified. The police have started an investigation into the matter based on the FIR and are trying to track the sender of the email.

Notably, multiple such threats have been issued to Shirdi’s Sai Baba Temple in the past but all of them have turned out to be hoaxes. However, in light of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran, the threat has raised concerns among the temple authority and the locals.
