Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took a swipe at Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, asserting that those who work hard earn higher positions, while those who prefer to stay at home receive lower ranks. His remarks came after he was named in The Indian Express’ list of ‘100 Influential Personalities of India.’
He also extended festive greetings to the opposition, saying, “Today is not a day for criticism. We extend our best wishes to the opposition as well on the occasion of Gudi Padwa.”
Shinde participated in a grand procession held in Thane to celebrate Gudi Padwa. Speaking to the media afterward, he stated that his government had already set the foundation for victory months ago. “This Gudi represents development, prosperity, our beloved sisters, farmers and brothers. We have ushered in a new era of progress for the state and will continue to push it forward with even greater speed,” he added.

Highlighting Maharashtra’s economic and industrial growth, Shinde emphasised the state’s investment-friendly environment. “Industries are being welcomed with open arms. The state boasts excellent transportation infrastructure, skilled labor and a strong GDP. We are leading in industrial entrepreneurship, and our economic position is better than other states. Foreign investors are choosing Maharashtra because of its favorable business climate,” he said.
Speaking about Thane, Shinde described it as a cultural hub with a rich culinary heritage and strong political leadership. “Thane is witnessing rapid development. Our sole agenda is progress. Mumbai, too, has transformed significantly over the last 15 years. We are ensuring better roads and connectivity through metro projects. Efforts are underway to ease traffic congestion in urban areas," he added.
