Maharashtra Politics: Rohit Pawar Slams CM Fadnavis Over Chief Economic Advisor Appointment, Alleges Interference In Ajit Pawar’s Finance Portfolio

In a sharp political attack, NCP-SP leader Rohit Pawar has raised serious concerns over the appointment of retired IAS officer Pravin Pardeshi as Chief Economic Advisor to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The decision, which also confers Minister of State (MoS) status on Pardeshi, has sparked political controversy.

Rohit Pawar alleged that the move was strategically designed to undermine Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar. He claimed that the creation of the new post amounted to interference in Ajit Pawar’s jurisdiction over the Finance Department.

Taking to social media, Rohit shared a government resolution (GR) related to Pardeshi’s appointment and expressed his displeasure, stating, “The Chief Minister has intruded into Ajit Dada’s Finance Department by creating the post of Chief Economic Advisor with MoS rank. From now on, all strategic and administrative decisions of the Finance Department will effectively fall under the Chief Minister’s purview via the advisor.”

Rohit further accused CM Fadnavis of a pattern of overreach. “After reviewing decisions from the past two-and-a-half years, it is clear that the Chief Minister first encroached on portfolios handled by CM Eknath Shinde, and now it’s Ajit Dada’s turn,” he said.

Meanwhile, NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) leader and MP Praful Patel attempted to downplay the situation, asserting that the Mahayuti alliance remains strong and that there are no complaints regarding the Finance Department.

However, Rohit didn’t hold back in his criticism of Fadnavis’s leadership style. He argued that the CM has consistently shown authoritarian tendencies and seeks to maintain control over all ministries, directly or indirectly. “In a democracy, decentralization of power and teamwork deliver better results than centralized authority. It would be in Maharashtra’s best interest for the CM to change his working style,” he said.

He also took a swipe at the BJP’s treatment of its allies, claiming, “For the BJP, allies are just temporary conveniences. Once the need is over, they are discarded. Though the BJP’s political strategy is evident to all, unfortunately, the partner parties realize it only when it’s too late.”
