In a fitting finale to the month-long environmental awareness drive under the Majhi Vasundhara 5.0 campaign, the Panvel Municipal Corporation organized a grand cycle rally on Maharashtra Day, May 1.
The cycle rally was the culmination of various activities conducted between World Earth Day (April 22) and Maharashtra Day (May 1). These included poster-making, elocution, quizzes, panel discussions, and tree plantation drives, all designed to engage school and college students in environmental themes. Each initiative focused on the five core elements of the Majhi Vasundhara campaign — Sky, Water, Air, Land, and Fire — to instill a sense of ecological responsibility among the youth.
The rally was flagged off at 6:45 a.m. from the municipal headquarters, with over 415 cyclists participating in the initiative to promote eco-friendly transport and environmental consciousness.

The rally route spanned 5 kilometers, covering key city landmarks including Vadale Lake, Gandhi Hospital, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, and Jai Bharat Chowk, before concluding back at the starting point. Ten cycling groups from different parts of the city joined the event, adding to the enthusiasm and community spirit.
Key civic officials including Deputy Commissioner Swaroop Kharge, Assistant Commissioner Shriram Pawar, Chief Public Relations Officer Dr. Raju Patodkar, and Environment Department Head Manoj Chavan were present to support the event. Medals and certificates were distributed to all participants and group representatives by Deputy Commissioner Kharge, recognizing their contribution to the cause.
