Palghar, Maharashtra: The Crime Branch Unit-2 of the Virar Police made a significant dent in drug trafficking, arresting a Nigerian national in possession of a substantial quantity of methamphetamine. The accused, Anthony Obonna Ivoke (65), was apprehended in the early hours of June 20 near Kingston Hotel and Radiant Hospital Road, Manvelpada, Virar East.

According to police reports, Ivoke, originally from Enugu State, Nigeria, and currently residing in Nalasopara East, was caught red-handed with 55 grams of methamphetamine (MD), a potent synthetic drug. The seizure followed a crucial tip-off received by the Virar Crime Branch.

The case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, specifically sections 8 (C) and 21 (C), which pertain to the illegal possession and trafficking of narcotic substances.

The operation was led by Sub-Inspector Sopaan Tukaram Patil and executed by a dedicated team from the Virar Crime Branch Unit-2, under the guidance of Police Sub-Inspector Dnyaneshwar Kokate.

Following his arrest, Ivoke was booked and remains in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities suspect that he may be part of a larger international drug trafficking network operating within the region. Further investigations are underway to uncover possible links and accomplices involved in the illegal drug trade.
