Maharashtra Crime: DRI Busts Illegal Mephedrone Factory In Latur; Seizes Drugs Worth ₹17 Crore, Arrests 7 Including Policeman

Mumbai: The officials of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mumbai has busted a clandestine Mephedrone factory at Latur. The agency has also seized 11.36 kg of Mephedrone valued at Rs 17 crore in illicit market along with raw materials and equipment and have arrested seven persons, including a policeman for their alleged involvement in the case.

According to the DRI sources, based on specific intelligence that a syndicate was involved in manufacturing of Mephedrone (a psychotropic substance under NDPS Act) at a clandestine facility set up in the remote hilly terrain of Rohina village, Latur, DRI officers mounted surveillance in the area. In the early hours of 08.04.25, search was conducted by officers of DRI at the clandestine Mephedrone facility.

"During search, 11.36 kg of Mephedrone (8.44 kg dry and 2.92 kg liquid ) was recovered . Large quantities of raw materials and full-scale lab equipments were also recovered. Five persons, including a police constable involved in manufacturing of Mephedrone at the clandestine facility were apprehended. In subsequent swift follow up, the distributor and financier were also apprehended at Mumbai. All seven persons have admitted to their respective roles in financing, manufacturing and trafficking of the psychotropic substance following which they were arrested," said a DRI source.
