Members of the Sakal Christian Samaj from across Maharashtra, met at the Methodist Centre, Mumbai Central, Mumbai, on Saturday, to discuss issues faced by the community in the last two months.
Allegations of religious conversion against Christian priests has created an atmosphere of fear in the community, said representatives and Christian leaders and lawyers from different districts of Maharashtra, including Nagpur, Yavatmal, Jalna, Sambhajinagar, Nashik, Pune, Sangli, Mumbai, Thane, Beed, and Sangamner in Ahilya Nagar district.

On July 11, 2025, a state-level protest was organised by Christian groups at Azad Maidan, Mumbai, which was attended by more than 15,000 people. The meeting on August 9 was organised in order to decide the legal course of action for the entire Christian community. Various plans of legal action have been approved at the meeting.
