Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau Exposes 238 Graft Cases, Nabs 344 This Year
According to the statistics, from January till April 23, this year, a total 243 corruption related cases have been registered in the state, including 238 trap cases. During the same period last year, 223 trap cases were registered by the ACB.

Statistics provided by the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have revealed that most trap cases are related to the officials of the Revenue and Land Records department, followed by the Police, Panchayat Samiti and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL). According to the statistics, from January till April 23, this year, a total 243 corruption related cases have been registered in the state, including 238 trap cases. During the same period last year, 223 trap cases were registered by the ACB.
The ACB's statistics revealed that in the 238 trap cases, 344 persons, including 78 private persons were booked. Further analysis of the statistics revealed that most officials involved in trap cases are Class III government officials (155), followed by Class II officials (37), Class I (34) and Class IV (12). As per the statistics this year, most corruption related trap cases were registered against officials of Revenue and Land Records department (66), followed by the Police (36), Panchayat Samiti (26), MSEDCL (14), Municipal Corporations (11) and 10 cases against officials of Zilla Parishad, Public Health Department and Education Department respectively.

The statistics revealed that in 238 trap cases, the total amount of bribe money involved is Rs 97.86 lakh. The highest amount of bribe money sought is related to the officials of the Revenue and Land Records department (Rs 21.01 lakh), followed by sales tax department (Rs 15.05 lakh) and Police (Rs 15.04 lakh). From January till April 23, the state ACB registered two cases related to disproportionate assets, both against police officials. The total amount of money involved in these two cases is Rs 33.99 lakh.
The statistics also revealed that maximum number of trap cases were registered in Nashik range (50), followed by Pune (43), Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (35), Nagpur (29), Thane (26), Amravati (21), Nanded (19) and Mumbai (15).
