Maharashtra: 2 Dead In Explosion At Firecracker Factory In Nagpur; Visual Surfaces
In a similar incident reported from West Bengal last week, four people, including two women, died on Friday, February 7, due to an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory in Kalyani in the Nadia district.
Two people died in a blast at a firecracker factory in Kotwalbudi in Nagpur's Katol Tehsil on Sunday.
According to reports, an explosion at a firecracker factory in Katol taluka led to a massive fire and a building collapse.
Many people are feared to be trapped under the debris.
Upon being alerted about the incident, police and the fire brigade reached the spot.
A visual from the explosion site has surfaced on social media, showing fire tenders present at the location.
Rescue operations are underway to bring out the trapped individuals from the debris.

After the incident, a probe was ordered to ascertain if the factory had proper permissions.
Nilimesh Roychowdhury, chairperson of Kalyani Municipal Corporation, said, 'We will probe the incident. It was not a factory but a godown.'
Tension escalated further after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Ambika Roy visited the area, and a few local residents raised the ‘Go Back’ slogan at him.
'Those creating a ruckus are Trinamool Congress (TMC) goons and are responsible for the explosion,' said the BJP MLA.
