Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation To Host 'Kinnar Mahotsav 2025', Aims To Empower Transgender Community With Employment Opportunities

Thane: Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, in collaboration with Kinnar Asmita, will organize Kinnar Mahotsav 2025 in Kalyan on Monday, with the objective of enhancing their mainstream access the transgenders by providing employment opportunities and enabling them to live with dignity.

According to the civic officials, KDMC chief Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar directed Sanjay Jadhav, a Deputy Municipal Commissioner from the Social Development Department, to implement various government schemes for transgenders.

The civic officials said that this Kinnar Mahotsav will be held at the Acharya Atre Rangmandir in Kalyan between 11 AM and 5 PM. In this program, prominent personalities and religious leaders from the transgender community will be participating.

Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi, Shrigauri Sawant, Salma Khan, Vivek Raj Anand, Dr. Shivalakshmi Nandagiri Aisaheb, Nita Kene, and other dignitaries from the Kinnar community will be present at the program.

Apart from dance, music, and stand-up comedy programs organized by the transgender community, schemes related to their upliftment will be launched, the civic body said. The registration of transgender people will also take place on the occasion with the Social Development department of KDMC.

According to the civic body, the main objective of this Mahotsav, after the registration of transgender individuals, is to raise awareness about government schemes. KDMC will provide them with free skill training and employment opportunities, encouraging them to be self-employed and benefit from government welfare schemes.
