Three construction sites in Kalyan were fined ₹25,000 collectively for failing to prevent mosquito breeding conditions.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Harshal Gaikwad, along with other civic officials, inspected sanitation conditions across various localities. These included the 1/A ward in Kalyan, the Gajanan Maharaj Temple premises in 3/C ward, Saibaba Nagar, Gulmohar Society in Ward No. 29, Sadguru Kripa Colony, Shri Krishna Colony, Shakuntala Bhavan in Ward No. 28, Khandelwal Colony, and the Gaondevi Temple premises.
During the special inspection, officials examined around 200 plastic drums, of which 30 were found to have signs of mosquito breeding, potentially linked to dengue transmission.
KDMC has appealed to citizens to avoid long-term storage of water, especially in open drums, as stagnant water creates breeding grounds for mosquitoes during the rainy season.
