International Women’s Day 2025: Panvel Municipal Corporation Celebrates With Grand Mahotsav

Navi Mumbai: The Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) marked International Women’s Day on March 7 with a grand celebration, organizing a special Mahotsav to honor and empower women.
The festival commenced with the inauguration of self-help group stalls and a health camp. As part of efforts to promote women entrepreneurs, 25 self-help groups were given the opportunity to set up stalls at the festival, which will remain open until March 9.
“These stalls feature a variety of products, including cloth bags, jewelry, clothing, food items, footwear, handbags, cleaning products, incense sticks, purses, sarees, and beauty products,” informed an official.
A special health camp was also organized to address women's healthcare needs. The camp offered screenings for oral cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer (Pap smear test), along with tests for various blood components and hemoglobin levels. Experts from MGM Medical College facilitated the check-ups.
In an effort to equip women with self-defense skills, Swayamsiddha director and national award winner Tapaswi Gondhali and her team conducted live demonstrations of self-defense techniques.
Senior Police Inspector Gajanan Kadam from Navi Mumbai Cyber Cell delivered a lecture on cyber security. “He educated the audience about various online frauds, including cyber scams, digital arrests, and WhatsApp fraud. Using simple and easy-to-understand language, he explained how cyber crimes occur and provided practical guidance on safeguarding oneself from such frauds,” an official stated.
Actress Bhargavi Chirmule shared health and wellness tips emphasizing the importance of maintaining overall well-being. Pranic healer Meghana Sanjay Kadam conducted a session on mental and physical wellness, providing practical advice for a healthy lifestyle. Noted singer Mithila Mali added a musical touch to the event with a captivating performance.
Later in the day, Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne interacted with the women in attendance and extended his best wishes on the occasion.
The corporation also organized the popular event Khel Paithanicha, drawing a massive turnout. Four winners were awarded the prestigious Paithani sarees. The event was followed by a cultural program featuring songs, music, and dance performances showcasing Maharashtra’s rich folk traditions.
