Mumbai: Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway hoisted the National flag on the occasion of 79th Independence Day at the Central Railway headquarters, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Mumbai on 15 August 2025.

Conveying his warmest greetings to all railway personnel, their families and esteemed users, the General Manager said it is a proud moment for Central Railway being the pioneering Railway, as Indian Railways celebrated a historic milestone of 100 years of Electrification on 3rd February, 2025, - a mile stone reflecting Central Railway’s enduring commitment to innovation and service excellence.

Milestones in Safety and Innovation

Speaking on achievements of Central Railway, Meena said with pride that Central Railway is the 1st Zone in Indian Railways to award the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) works to bring the entire track routes of the zone under the protective cover of KAVACH.

He also said that Central Railway is the proud winner of the 2nd position for Best Shed Homing Coaching Locos & Loco Cab Modification and 3rd position for Best Shed Homing Conventional Locos.

Infrastructure Growth and Passenger Amenities

Speaking on infrastructure development & revenue, Meena said, Central Railway has achieved higher revenue growth this fiscal year and has been making steady progress towards its contribution to the Nation’s infrastructure by commissioning of 245 kms of New lines / Multitracking etc.and 193 kms of Railway Electrification in a direction towards Railway Network capacity expansion.

He also elaborated the passenger amenities like lifts, escalators and safety measures like FOBs, ROBs, RUBs provided and installation of Whistling Boards to alert staff and public of approaching trains.

Enhanced Passenger Security

He said that Central Railway has taken several steps to ensure security of passengers by provision of CCTV cameras in train coaches and suburban trains and added that talk back system has been installed in all ladies coaches of EMU rakes in suburban trains. He had a word of appreciation for the efforts of the RPF personnel for their excellent work through Operation Nanhe Farishte, Operation Amanat, Meri Saheli etc.

RailOne App and Local Product Promotion

Meena stated that Central Railway has implemented the RailOne App launched by Hon’ble Minister of Railways, providing a one-stop solution for all passenger services of Indian Railways.

He also said that Central Railway in alignment with Government of India’s “Vocal for Local” initiative and in line with the theme of “Swadeshi” & “Atmanirbhar Bharat” is promoting local and indigenous products through 161 One Station One Product stalls across 157 stations to encourage and boost sale of local products.

Congratulating the Sports Team and Cultural Team for their achievements, the General Manager motivated the Railway personnel for their excellent teamwork and motivated them to work on the path of continuous progress in taking Railways to newer heights.

Cultural Highlights and Public Engagement

On this occasion artistes of Central Railway Cultural Academy presented a Cultural Programme titled “Deewaron se Pare” featuring teachings of Sant Dhyaneshwar, The Chipko Movement- for Protection of Environment , Contributions of Veer Savarkar and Mahatma Gandhi to the freedom struggle and the ultimate example of Make in India & future of Indian Railways-Vande Bharat Trains.

A Dog Show with trained dogs, Simba and Happy showing multiple talents was presented by the Railway Protection Force.

Asha Meena, President, CRWWO with other executive members, Prateek Goswami, Additional General Manager, Principal Heads of Department, Divisional Railway Manager and other officials were also present on the occasion.
