Mumbai: Dadar railway station was extremely crowded on Saturday evening as many commutes faced difficulties to get home because of the three-day (April 11 to 13) block in Western Railway. Several local trains were cancelled due to a mega block between Mahim and Bandra stations for maintenance work on a railway bridge.
The Western Railway confirmed that around 300 train services were cancelled due to night mega block on April 11 and 12 for bridge work between Mahim and Bandra. According to chief PRO Vineet Abhishek, 50 per cent of the work is done and the rest will be completed by weekend.
Photos from the station showed heavy crowds, full trains, and people waiting on platforms for a long time.
Since Dadar is one of the busiest stations in Mumbai, as it also connects Western line with Central line, the cancellation of trains caused big problems. Platforms were packed with people, and the few trains that were running were overcrowded.
The Western Railway has shared progress on the ongoing bridge work between Mahim and Bandra, which led to night mega blocks on April 11 and 12. Around 300 trains were initially cancelled, but officials clarified that the actual impact was on 200 services. To help commuters, 100 extra train services were added.

Highlighting the railway’s focus on long-term improvements, he added, "Western Railway continues to prioritize safety, efficiency, and passenger convenience throughout the project. This work is part of our larger effort to modernize infrastructure and ensure the safety of all passengers."
