Washim: A viral clip on social media is touching the hearts of countless individuals these days. In the video, a farmer is depicted lying on the ground to safeguard his peanut crop from being eroded by the rain. Unusual rains have devastated farmers in Maharashtra, especially in the Manora tehsil of Washim district, where crops such as Bhuimug, Moong, Chana, and Toor were left vulnerable and soaked by intense rainfall.
The heavy rains have greatly affected agriculture in various regions of Marathwada, West Maharashtra, and Vidarbha. Devastating videos shared by the Manora Market Committee have gained widespread attention, depicting farmers frantically trying to save their soaked grains; some are observed sitting and lying in the rain to shield their peanut plants.
As a result of the intense rainfall, water is flowing everywhere, and the farmer is depicted attempting to collect his harvest with both hands, as if each grain represents his aspirations. This moment represents more than a natural disaster; it reflects a farmer's anguish, his fight, and his shattered aspirations. This event is from the Washim district in Maharashtra. Farmers had brought their harvests, including peanuts, moong, gram, and tur, to sell at the Manora Market Committee.
The unexpected downpour on Thursday spoiled their efforts. The grain left outside became entirely drenched. There was no framework, no organization to safeguard the harvest. The farmers had no choice but to rely solely on destiny. If the facility isn't accessible, the farmer's effort becomes futile, and their labor is in vain.
