Ganeshotsav 2025: Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation Launches Workshop To Promote Eco-Friendly Shadu Clay Idols And Sustainable Celebrations; VIDEO
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a large-scale workshop for school students to raise awareness about eco-friendly Ganeshotsav under the “Harit Bappa/Faleet Bappa” initiative. The aim is to promote the use of Shadu clay idols during the upcoming Ganesh festival across the KDMC region.

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a large-scale workshop for school students to raise awareness about eco-friendly Ganeshotsav under the “Harit Bappa/Faleet Bappa” initiative. The aim is to promote the use of Shadu clay idols during the upcoming Ganesh festival across the KDMC region.
Workshop to Engage 4,000 Students in Traditional Art and Environmental Awareness
According to civic officials, the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Education Today Foundation. The workshop is scheduled to be held on August 12 at the Surendra Vajpayee Auditorium, located within the Savalaram Maharaj Sports Complex, Dombivli East. Around 4,000 school students are expected to participate in the workshop, which will be conducted in two sessions.
Rohini Lokre, Project Head of the initiative, said that students will gain hands-on experience in traditional art forms, cultural values, and environmental conservation. The idols will be made using Shadu clay and natural colors, encouraging sustainable practices.
Through this initiative, the KDMC aims to spread the message of eco-friendly Ganeshotsav not just among students, but also to their parents and teachers. The Municipal Corporation will provide the Shadu clay required for idol-making.
KDMC Urges Ganesh Mandals to Use Idols Under Six Feet for Easier Immersion
In addition, KDMC has appealed to Ganesh Mandals to consider installing idols less than six feet tall, wherever possible, to facilitate immersion in artificial ponds.
Patriotic Activities for Students Under Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign
Meanwhile, under the Central Government’s "Har Ghar Tiranga" campaign, several patriotic activities are being organized for school students. These include rangoli making, rakhi making, letter writing to soldiers, and a cycle rally scheduled for August 10, 2025, at 6:30 am.
