Fire Breaks Out On 42nd Floor Of Salsette 27 Building In Mumbai's Byculla, No Casualties Reported; Visuals Surface

Mumbai: A fire erupted on Friday morning in a residential high-rise, Salsette 27 building, located on B A Road, Byculla East. The blaze broke in an apartment on the 42nd floor of the ground plus 57 storeyed building. The incident was reported to Mumbai Fire Brigade at around 10.45 am and the blaze was doused at 1.10 pm. No injuries were reported.
As per the Mumbai Fire Brigade officials, Salsette is a newly constructed residential project and is partially occupied. The flat number 4203 where the fire broke out was vacant but was under renovation. Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Ravindra Ambulgekar said, “The flat was under renovation; however, it is not known as yet if the fire erupted due to the work. The internal firefighting system of the high-rise was working in working condition.”
It is not clear yet if the laborers, security or other residents in the building used the fire extinguishers and internal firefighting system in the newly constructed building to douse the blaze at the initial stage. However, the CFO confirmed that the firefighting system in the high rise was in working condition.
According to reports, some residents ran out of the building before the fire brigade arrived, while some were evacuated by the firemen. The Mumbai Fire Brigade deployed five fire engines, three Jumbo tankers, a turntable ladder used for fire fighting on the top floors of the high-rises, and two ambulances.
The firemen were successful in covering the fire soon, and no injuries were reported in the incident. The Mumbai Fire Brigade is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
