Mumbai: The Gamdevi police are investigating a bomb threat email sent to a well-known pet clinic in Mumbai's Girgaon, which was later confirmed to be a hoax. A case has been registered against an unidentified sender for spreading fear through false information.
Threat Email Claimed Bomb Planted On Clinic Premises
According to reports quoting officials, the incident occurred on Sunday when the clinic received an email from an unknown sender claiming that a bomb had been planted on the premises. The email stated that the explosive could detonate at any moment, prompting immediate concern among the staff. Prakash, a Thane resident working at the clinic, reported the threat to senior officials, who then informed the Gamdevi police.
Upon receiving the complaint, police teams rushed to the clinic and evacuated the premises as a precautionary measure. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a dog squad were deployed to conduct a thorough search. However, after a detailed inspection, no suspicious object was found, confirming that the threat was a hoax, as reported by Lokmat Times.

Following the incident, the police registered a case against the unknown sender under relevant sections related to issuing bomb threats and creating panic. The investigation has been handed over to the Crime Branch, which is working to trace the origin of the email.
Authorities are analysing digital evidence to identify the culprit behind the false alarm. Officials have assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible for spreading fear through such threats.
