Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced a special cleanliness drive for the Eastern and Western Expressways. This initiative was announced via X on Wednesday. This drive took place overnight from March 18 at 10 PM to March 19 at 6 AM. As per the BMC, this drive will be continued till March 22. During the drive, various types of equipment were used to clean the roads, showcasing the extensive efforts of the BMC.
In their post, the BMC stated "A special cleanliness drive is being implemented on the Eastern and Western Expressways from yesterday (March 18) at 10 PM to today (March 19) at 6 AM. The areas cleaned include the stretch from Ghatkopar to Vikhroli on the Eastern Expressway and the 90-foot road area from Andheri to Kandivali on the Western Expressway."
BMC mentioned that the campaign was conducted overnight, during which they cleaned the expressway extensively. They also cleaned the adjacent service roads, the plants along the highway, and the fences around the trees. Several things were cleared during this drive on the road, including garbage and debris.
They also removed the unauthorized hoardings as well as the advertisement boards on the eastern and western highways. Additionally, in the campaign, they painted tree trunks, arranged seating at bus stops, and disposed of old vehicles that were obstructing the road, among other activities.

The initiative aims to clean various roads in the Mumbai suburban area, including the Eastern and Western Highways, as part of an overnight special campaign.
