Mumbai: Retired High Court Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale, appointed to lead the one-member inquiry commission into the police shooting of Badlapur sex assault accused Akshay Shinde, will receive a monthly honorarium of ₹7 lakh.

Akshay Shinde, a sweeper at a Badlapur school, was accused in a sexual assault case that sparked widespread protests in August.

On September 23, police shot him dead, claiming he had snatched an officer’s gun and injured him, prompting retaliatory fire. Justice Bhosale, who retired as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court in 2018, is also probing the Ghatkopar hoarding collapse in May 2024, in which 17 people died.
Son of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Babasaheb Bhosale, he served as a judge in the Bombay, Karnataka, and Hyderabad High Courts (2001–2016) before heading the Allahabad High Court (2016–2018). It remains unclear what remuneration he is receiving for the Ghatkopar probe.
