Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Captain Sumeet Sabharwal's Father Pays Emotional Tribute To Son Ahead Of His Funeral In Mumbai; Heartbreaking Video Surfaces |

Mumbai: Amid heavy hearts and tearful goodbyes, the father of Captain Sumeet Sabharwal, Pushkaraj Sabharwal, paid an emotional tribute to his son outside their residence in Mumbai's Powai on Tuesday. The grieving father, a retired senior official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), expressed his sorrow as the mortal remains of his son were brought home following the devastating Air India crash. A heartbreaking video of the emotional moment has surfaced on the internet.

The captain’s remains arrived at Jal Vayu Vihar, the Powai residential complex predominantly inhabited by retired Air Force officers and aviation personnel, early Tuesday morning. A wave of grief swept through the community as family members, colleagues, and well-wishers gathered to pay their final respects.

Sumeet Had Plans To Take A Break From Flying, Spend Time With Father

Pushkaraj Sabharwal, who had shared a close bond with his son, was deeply affected by the tragedy. That long-awaited visit, however, will now remain an unfulfilled promise.

Real estate developer and Hiranandani Group founder Dr Niranjan Hiranandani was among the many who arrived to pay tribute to the veteran aviator.

Captain Sabharwal had over 30 years of flying experience and had logged more than 8,200 flight hours. Captain Sumeet Sabharwal was piloting the London-bound Air India flight that tragically crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12.

He was among the nine Mumbai-based crew members on board the ill-fated flight, which carried 232 people. Only one person, Ramesh Vishwaskumar, survived the crash after reportedly jumping clear of the aircraft just before impact.
