Why are non-veg foods prohibited?

Non-vegetarian and heavy foods are avoided due to a combination of religious, scientific, and practical reasons. Some Hindus believed that it is essential to demonstrate respect for all living creatures, including animals, throughout this period. The monsoon season can weaken the digestive system due to increased humidity and fluctuating temperatures. During the month of monsoon, non-vegetarian food gets heavy to digest and puts extra strain on the body, potentially leading to discomfort and illness.
