The stars of the world gathered on the grand steps of New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5 for the Met Gala 2025, and among the night's most breathtaking appearances was India's very own Natasha Poonawalla. For her latest Met Gala red carpet appearance, Natasha teamed up with ace designer Manish Malhotra, delivering a look that was true to Natasha's style. Staying on this year's theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style", the businesswoman donned a dramatic fishtail gown, which was more than a couture creation.
Natasha's ensemble featured a dramatic skirt meticulously crafted from two antique Parsi Gara sarees. According to the designer, the sarees are over a century old, carefully restored and repurposed into a flowing silhouette that honoured the intricate embroidery tradition of the Parsi community.
The designer skilfully balanced the softness of heritage with sharp Western tailoring by pairing the fishtail skirt with a striking black Gara jacket. The jacket featured structured shoulders that echoed early 20th-century men’s suiting. Its tailored finish paid tribute to Black dandyism, aligning perfectly with the gala’s theme, while ensuring that the traditional embroidery remained the focal point.
