Kulfi, a mainstay of every Indian celebration, is gaining popularity across the world. Popular food platform, TasteAtlas has listed it at No 8 among the World's Best Frozen Desserts.

The traditional India frozen treat made with creamy milk, dry fruits and kesar or saffron is usually enjoyed in the summers.

Remember the good old days when the kulfiwalla would bring it to your doorstep in a large matka that he carried on his head? The kulfi molds would be neatly tucked among chunks of ice, and he would gently de-mold it with the pointed edge of a knife and offer it to you on a stick.

Interestingly, Kulfi-Falooda has found a spot at No 31 on the list.

The 'refreshing treat of thin falooda noodles and kulfi', is usually made at home, but it is very common in Mughlai restaurants and you'll also spot street vendors selling it during Ramzan.

It doesn't matter how you enjoy kulfi, the delicious, creamy dessert - it can be had on a stick or a matka, you can slice it and have it on a plate or have it with falooda.

Describing the dish, TasteAtlas wrote: "Kulfi is a traditional ice-cream made with slowly simmered whole milk. Although the long-simmering process results in a loss of volume, it makes up for it with a delicious, nutty, caramelised flavour.

"The ice cream is characterised by its unusual, conical shape, a result of using traditional, special molds with tight-fitting lids. Kulfi is usually flavoured with traditional Indian ingredients such as pistachio, rose water, and saffron, although some cooks prefer to flavour it with fruits such as berries."
